So it's obvious I like sweet tea. I'm a wife. I'm a mom. I'm a teacher. I'm a non-athletic, short, slow runner. Back of the pack. Occasional walker. Your average, everyday, lazy bum. I have a weakness for chocolate, sweet tea, and heck, anything sweet. I run so I can eat and drink the sweet stuff (in moderation, of course)!
Being a teacher, wife and mom are the reason I get out of bed everyday. I have a wonderful husband and sweet 4 year old daughter. However, that being said, I do often need something to help me keep (or find) my sanity. And that something has become running. Yeah, caffeine helps, but running is what gives me the ultimate "feel goods". The two main reasons I run...sanity and sweet tea!
I began running in January of 2010. I wanted to lose weight, get in shape and change my body after having a baby 3 years before. So I signed up for 4 races. A 5k, a 10k, a 10 miler, and a half-marathon. I knew it would be hard. I knew there would be some failures. And most of all, I knew that other people would think I was crazy. "What? You are going to run a half-marathon?". If I had a dollar...but seriously, there have been injuries (namely shin splints and strained/pulled muscles). And I missed the 10k and the 10 miler because of them. And I may have walked for most of the half-marathon. But for me, just attempting and finishing was the biggest feat of all. It gave me a new goal, as well. Run the whole thing next time. If there is a next time...
I may write a lot about running. I may write a lot about food. And occasionally I may write about my adventures as a mom and a teacher.
So here I go, blogging my journey to be a healthier, more productive me.
